The music on this album was written and recorded by Chris Vibberts for the documentary film THE PEOPLE'S NEPAL. It incorporates traditional instruments from India, Nepal, and Tibet (sitar, bulbul tarang, tabla, tambura, wooden flutes, and Tibetan bowls and bells) that can be heard along side such unexpected partners as the ukulele, Marxophone, accordion, concertina, and Ebow to create soundscapes both beautiful and haunting. The music seamlessly and gracefully supports the film's telling of the recent rise of democracy in Nepal. Many of the tracks were developed by incorporating actual chanting, rioting, talking, gun shots, and clinks and clanks from scenes of the movie itself.

After meeting the tight deadline to finish the score and complete the film in time for its release, the music was then expanded and developed further to create the album FALLING AND RISING. A fantastic listen of 26 tracks at nearly 40 minutes long. This music has been described as an Indian version of Peter Gabriel's PASSION from the film THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST. Chris has taken sounds we expect to hear coming from a small village in India or at a monastery in Tibet and has molded (and sometimes warped) them into music that is simultaneously contemporary yet timeless. A fantastic album of exotic, captivating, and moving music that is of the earth, but soars into the heavens.
